Meet Paige, Founder of Merci Pre Loved Kids
What inspired you to create Merci Pre Loved Kids?
My inspiration for creating Merci Preloved Kids came from a memorable experience at a market in Newcastle. As I browsed a stall filled with beautiful preloved children’s clothing sourced from France, I was immediately drawn to the sustainable, unique pieces that resonated with my values. I bought a gorgeous gingham dress for my daughter, Charlotte, and later discovered that her grandmother had secretly purchased a matching cardigan. When the owner announced she was selling the business, I felt a strong desire to continue what she had started, ensuring these timeless, high-quality pieces would remain available for others to enjoy.
What is it about French kids labels that you love ?
I absolutely adore the intricate details, like the delicate smocking on a stunning dress or the subtle charm of an embroidered collar on a casual romper. What really stands out, though, is how the pieces are designed to be layered, making each one not only unique but also incredibly versatile.
Describe your ideal day out with your daughter.
My ideal day out with my daughter starts with a trip to the library followed by a visit to the park. We share a meal together, then head home for a leisurely ramble in the garden before enjoying a cozy afternoon nap.
Can you recommend to our community any activities and cafes from your area to go with little ones?
We absolutely love The Icky Sticky Patisserie! We grab a cup of coffee and a freshly baked pastry, then head to Ron Bown Park for a relaxing picnic. It’s a hidden gem, tucked away behind Lorn's main street, and feels like stepping into a real-life secret garden.
Where do you love to escape to when you have a rare kid-free moment?
I love spending time at my local café, where I cozy up in a quiet corner with a warm sticky chai and my journal. It’s the perfect place to unwind and let my thoughts flow freely onto the pages. Afterward, I always enjoy browsing the attached antique store, searching for hidden treasures to end my visit.
